Mar Lan Construction was selected as the general contractor to perform the Servery Renovation project. Located in Lewis Hall on the University of Kansas campus, Ekdahl Dining serves nearly 3,000 students daily. Commonly known as Mrs. E’s by KU students, this renovation project had to be completed in 76 calendar days. Work started the day after May graduation, and was completed prior to students returning in early August.
The work included a complete renovation of the 17,000 square feet of the dining and servery areas. The extensive remodel included all new finishes, new Servery equipment, and major mechanical and electrical upgrades including a new chiller, new air handlers, new make-up air units, and new lighting.
The project required meticulous scheduling and coordination to ensure that material deliveries, subcontractor scheduling, and manpower were available to complete the project on time.
