The University of Kansas and the Spencer Museum of Art selected Mar Lan Construction as their CM at Risk to carry out the Museum’s major Phase 1 renovation project. The project transformed more than 27,000 square feet of the Museum, representing the first major renovation of the building since it was constructed in 1977.
Phase 1 includes an expanded lobby and gathering space and a complete renovation of the Central Court and surrounding galleries. New additions to the space include a central elevator and staircase, and a two-story, floor-to-ceiling window that allows natural light inside the galleries and connects the Museum to the historic Marvin Grove.
Acclaimed architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners lead the project and teamed with Sabatini & Associates as an associate architect.
