Mar Lan Construction was selected as the Construction Manager @ Risk for this 16,800 square foot, 2-story addition to the existing USD 497 College and Career Center (CCC). The new addition includes a new gymnasium, collaborative spaces, maker spaces, and administrative offices that are used by the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence as their new Teen Center. The Teen Center houses the after school programs for both Junior High and High School age students. The joint project between USD 497 and the Boys and Girls Club involved both private fund raising and proceeds from a USD 497 bond issue.
The addition includes a new ICC 500 storm shelter that is used by both USD 497 staff and students and the Teen Center. The interior renovation of the CCC included a new Culinary Kitchen that provides opportunities for education in Culinary Arts for the school district.
