Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at their new Behavioral Health Center on November 15. Mar Lan Construction completed the 4,800 square foot state-of-the-art facility and is very proud to have been a part of this addition to the PBPN community.
The building houses offices, a reception area, group therapy space, a sensory room, and a private patio. The reception area features a round skylight which provides serene lighting as you enter the building.
The behavioral health program was started in 1989 and has evolved over the decades to include a comprehensive program for individuals as well as couples counseling, groups, and families and serves any federally recognized Native American from age 14 and older. PBPN is the first tribe in Kansas to build a facility dedicated to the mental health needs of Native Americans in the community. The new facility will provide an opportunity for expansion of the staff positions, better organization for the existing recordkeeping, and the ability to receive accreditation.
