KTA McDonald's

1-70 at Milepost 209 | Lawrence, Kansas

This was a very rapid deployment project involving the complete remodel of the kitchen, dining areas, and public restrooms to turn a former Hardee's restaurant into a McDonald's restaurant. The project is located at the Lawrence Service Area of Kansas Turnpike I-70. Due to the extremely high volume of traffic experienced at the location and the visibility of the project, time became a critical factor in terms of turn-around time. Mar Lan Construction was given approximately 30 days to complete the remodel.

The transformation involved completely gutting the kitchen and installing a complete new double-lined kitchen to allow for twice as much preparation area, all new equipment, counters, menu boards, and flooring. The dining room was re-designed and configured with an island service area as a divider between the dining area and the high traffic at the order counters.

A gift shop and completely new men's and women's public restrooms were installed adjacent to the restaurant. As you can see in the ribbon cuting ceremony picture above, McDonald's dignitaries "Hamburgler" and "Ronald McDonald" turned out along with then Kansas Governor Bill Graves to do the honors.
